130 thousand euros set aside for projects in underdeveloped municipalities in Serbia

The Cabinet of the Minister without Portfolio in charge of promoting the development of underdeveloped municipalities and 33 representatives of citizens’ associations from the territory of these municipalities signed an agreement today on the allocation of non-refundable funds for the implementation of projects of public interest.
The contract stipulates a total of 130 thousand euros, and the maximum amount of approved funds per individual project is 6.300 euros.
Local associations participated in the public competition for support programs in the areas of employment and self-employment of young and hard-to-employ categories of the population, organization of cultural activities and improvement of security culture.
Also, associations for programs in the field of promotion of civic activism, improvement of the capacity of the local community to reduce the risk and risky behaviors from the use of drugs, alcohol and other harmful substances applied for the competition.
Associations have also applied for programs to raise awareness of healthy lifestyles, sustainable development of environmental protection, assistance to associations that work with socially vulnerable people, people with disabilities, marginalized groups and others.
On that occasion, Minister Novica Toncev said that the Cabinet, headed by him, wanted to enable the citizens of underdeveloped municipalities to get closer to more developed environments, in order to progress in them and live better and with better quality.
– By realizing this and all other projects, we want to show that every municipality is important to us and that no one will be left out – Toncev said and added that the great response of the association to the competition showed that we are on the right path.
During the evaluation of the project proposal, the expert commission evaluated the project references, goals, budget, competencies of the project team and previous experience of the association in the field in which it applied.
The approved funds are of a purposeful character and can be used exclusively for the realization of specific programs, and the deadline for completion is December 1, reports the website of the Government of Serbia, eKapija reports.
