How much was spent on research and development activities in Serbia in 2022

27,433,958,000 dinars of budget funds were spent on research and development activities in Serbia in 2022, which represents an increase of 3.2 percent compared to 2021, the Republic Institute of Statistics announced today.

The share of total budget funds for research and development in the gross domestic product in 2022 was 0.39 percent.

The highest percentage of budget funds went to the state sector, 62.5 percent, followed by the higher education sector, 23 percent.

The foreign sector followed with 11.1 percent, the non-financial (business) sector with 2.2 percent, while 1.2 percent of the money was intended for the non-profit sector.

The money planned for research and development in the budget for 2023, before the budget rebalancing, amounted to 26.8 billion dinars.
