The trend of growth in the use of the most modern forms of payment continued

In the third quarter, the trend of growth in the use of the most modern forms of payment continued, which is also shown by the fact that at the end of the third quarter, 3.99 million users had a contracted electronic banking service, which is 7.92 percent more than in the same period of the previous year, the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) announced.

3.86 million users had a contracted mobile banking service, i.e. by 16.04 percent more than in the same quarter of 2022.

In addition to the number of users, the total number of transactions performed by citizens and the economy through digital banking has also increased.

Compared to the third quarter of the previous year, the turnover of transactions performed via electronic and mobile banking moved in opposite directions, so the number of payments using electronic banking decreased by 8.84 percent, while the number of payments using mobile banking increased by 27.28 percent.

According to the NBS, this indicates that the mobile phone is increasingly being used as a means of initiating payments as a substitute for a computer.
