Serbian Ministry of Mining confirms no current exploitation requests in Novi Pazar area

The Ministry of Mining and Energy of Serbia has confirmed that there are currently no active exploitation requests in the Novi Pazar area.

The company Zlatna Reka Resources from Belgrade holds permits for geological research at several locations within Novi Pazar, including Leča na Rogozna, Zlatni Kamen, Šanac na Rogozna and Pasji Potok. These permits were initially issued to other companies but have since been transferred to Zlatna Reka Resources.

According to the Ministry, Zlatna Reka Resources reports its research findings to the Ministry as required by the Law on Mining and Geological Surveys. While preliminary investigations have indicated potential for copper and gold ores, further research is needed to determine the viability of these sites for exploitation.

The process involves creating a detailed report on reserves and resources, which is then analyzed by the Republic Commission. Only after this analysis can the quantity and quality of the mineral reserves be confirmed.

Additionally, the Ministry noted that Adriatic Metals, another Belgrade-based company, holds permits for geological research of lead, zinc, silver and copper at Kaznovići, valid until November 26, 2024. This research spans parts of Raška and Novi Pazar.

The Ministry emphasized that geological research is a lengthy and risky process, and the discovery of a viable deposit does not guarantee immediate exploitation. Approval for exploitation involves a comprehensive review of investment and technical documentation, as well as obtaining various opinions and permits related to environmental protection, water management, spatial planning, fire protection, and cultural heritage.
