Serbia’s Q2 2024 labor market report: Rise in employment and drop in unemployment rate

According to data from the Labor Force Survey, the number of employed people in Serbia in the second quarter of this year was 2.89 million, while the number of unemployed was 257,800, and the unemployment rate stood at 8.2%, reported the Republic Statistical Office (RZS) today. The number of employed individuals increased by 48,400 compared to the same period last year, the number of unemployed decreased by 44,800, and the unemployment rate fell by 1.4 percentage points.

Compared to the first quarter of 2024, the number of employed people rose by 28,000, while the number of unemployed decreased by 41,300.

The overall informal employment rate was 11.8%, with informal employment in the agriculture sector at 51.7% and in non-agricultural sectors at 5.9%.
