The International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission has been in Belgrade since Thursday for the fourth and final review of the stand-by arrangement approved for Serbia on December 19, 2022.
On the first day of their visit, the IMF mission held a plenary meeting at the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) with a Serbian delegation led by NBS Governor Jorgovanka Tabaković, who also serves as Serbia’s governor at the IMF.
The discussions included Finance Minister Siniša Mali and Minister of Economy Adriana Mesarović. They reviewed the latest macroeconomic developments, economic prospects and risks, as well as the implementation of the agreed economic program.
The IMF mission is also scheduled to meet with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.
The third review of the economic program concluded in July 2024 with a decision by the IMF’s Executive Board confirming its successful completion.
Serbia’s stand-by arrangement with the IMF, valued at €2.4 billion, is set to conclude in December 2024. The Serbian delegation has previously agreed with IMF representatives to extend the arrangement for at least two more years.
