Serbia strengthens digital transformation with Oracle partnership to boost foreign investment and public sector modernization

Serbia’s partnership with Oracle, which plays a key role in attracting foreign investments, is one of the country’s strategic priorities, stated Prime Minister Miloš Vučević at the opening of the “Oracle SaaS Vision 2025” conference.

At the event held at the Fruške Terme Hotel in Vrdnik, Vučević reminded attendees that Oracle opened its first regional Cloud center in Southeast Europe at the State Data Center in Kragujevac, highlighting that the collaboration with this global IT giant began in 2018.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Oracle is one of the most prestigious companies in the United States and noted that the partnership with Oracle will further enhance cooperation with Washington, positioning Serbia more strongly both regionally and in relation to the U.S.

Vučević assured that Serbia will continue to develop the Kragujevac Data Center, where significant investments have been made in both infrastructure and human resources.

Mihailo Jovanović, Director of the Office for IT and eGovernment, stated that the Prime Minister has provided substantial support to all Oracle projects, recognizing them as key for the development of Serbia’s digital sector.

Jovanović pointed out that this collaboration demonstrates Serbia’s efforts in establishing itself as a leader in digitalization in the Western Balkans, noting that Serbia was the first in Southeast Europe to implement “OracleCloud” technology.

According to Jovanović, over 40 projects have already been implemented, with around 300 terabytes of storage capacity, and projects related to artificial intelligence are expected to develop soon.

He also announced that in the next two years, a unified health system network will be formed and noted that by migrating data to OracleCloud, the need for maintaining hardware has been eliminated, allowing doctors to focus more on patient care.

Governments worldwide face challenges that require data security, and Oracle, as a global leader in cloud services, has demonstrated how digitalization and modernization processes transform public administration, strengthening citizens’ trust in governments.
