The Assistant Minister in the Financial System Sector of the Ministry of Finance, Ognjen Popović, announced that over 4,500 applications have been submitted for the housing loan program for young people in just one month. He also stated that 780 requests are currently in the process of approval and contract signing. According to Popović, eight of the top 10 largest banks in Serbia are participating in the program.
“Half of the banks offering housing loans in Serbia have joined the program, and all are among the top 10 largest. The response has been much better than expected from the start. What was even more surprising was the level of interest. While we anticipated the program would be attractive, we already have over 4,500 applications and conducted interviews. What is particularly gratifying is that, after just one month, more than 780 completed requests are being processed for approval and signing. This is really encouraging,” Popović said in a guest appearance on TV Prva.
He also mentioned that the biggest challenge is finding suitable real estate, but he believes the success of the program so far shows that citizens are managing to overcome this obstacle.
