Serbia has to work much more on attracting direct investment from the diaspora-Sreckovic

Minister of Religion and the Diaspora Srdjan Sreckovic said yesterday that this year’s remittances from the Serbian diaspora will probably be the same as in 2010, between $4.5 and $5 billion.

Sreckovic told Tanjug news agency that this sum will significantly contribute to the maintenance of macroeconomic stability in Serbia.

The Minister underlined that Serbia has to work much more on attracting direct investment from the diaspora and voiced hope that it will give greater contribution to the country’s economic development.

Sreckovic reiterated that Serbia cannot develop without foreign investment because it does not have sufficient domestic financial resources, which is why every foreign investor is precious.

I believe that our people from the diaspora will give a huge contribution to the economic development of our country if we enable business conditions in Serbia that are equal to those to which they are accustomed in developed countries in which they do business, Sreckovic concluded.
