The City of Belgrade has awarded a contract worth over 227 million dinars (approximately 1.9 million euros) to the company “Info Media Group” for the purpose of providing information to public transport users through advertisements inside vehicles. This private company was the sole bidder in a public tender issued by the City Secretariat for Public Transport.
“Info Media Group,” which already handles information services within the city’s public transport system, was awarded the full value of the contract. The deal amounts to exactly 227,094,348 dinars, excluding VAT, which will be paid in monthly installments over a one-year period.
The company’s responsibilities include creating both static and animated visual content for advertising purposes, as well as managing advertising surfaces such as posters, illuminated panels, and digital displays inside all types of city transport vehicles. These informational displays will be placed in a total of 600 public transport vehicles.
The objective of this procurement, as stated by the City Secretariat for Public Transport, is to improve communication with the public by informing passengers of important updates, such as changes in the transport system, new fare zones, and other relevant information. Additionally, the city aims to build greater trust among citizens by highlighting the affordability of public transport, the environmental benefits of using public transport, and ongoing investments in new vehicles to improve service quality.
This initiative also aims to promote the benefits of public transport in reducing carbon emissions and improving air quality, aligning with the city’s broader environmental goals. The goal is to enhance passengers’ experience while benefiting both the users and the Secretariat for Public Transport.
In the meantime, several changes have already been implemented since the tender was announced. Public transportation in Belgrade is now free for all passengers. Additionally, just before the tender was announced, the city’s mayor introduced a new dynamic timetable for buses, allowing them to depart based on real-time GPS data, rather than a fixed schedule. This is designed to reduce waiting times for passengers and ensure a more even spacing between buses throughout the day.
The introduction of a dynamic timetable aims to improve the efficiency of the city’s public transport system, with buses leaving when needed based on the current traffic conditions. According to the mayor, this approach will provide more flexibility and improve the overall public transportation experience for residents.
