Belgrade metro construction begins in 2025, first line expected to open in 2030

The construction of tunnels for the Belgrade metro and the preparation of space, including the relocation of utilities at 21 stations along the first metro line, is set to begin next year, according to city manager Miroslav Čučković.

In an appearance on TV Prva, Čučković explained that preparations will include the displacement of residents in areas where metro stations will be built. Legal procedures will ensure that these citizens receive replacement apartments or financial assistance to purchase property.

He added that the construction process for 2025 will also include the development of a major boulevard along Makiški Polje, as well as the creation of a large depot, garage, and an automated control room.
