The Belgrade Stock Exchange has announced the appointment of Laza Ostojić as its new Executive Director. Ostojić aims to establish the exchange as a pivotal force in advancing the domestic economy through strategic investments and enhanced connections with global markets.
As detailed on the exchange’s website, Ostojić brings extensive experience in securities trading on the Serbian capital market. His career includes significant involvement in major mergers and acquisitions of leading companies, which has earned him a reputation as a leading expert in this field.
Ostojić has also served as an advisor for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the World Bank, where he contributed to analyzing challenges in the capital market and developing strategies to improve and strengthen Serbia’s financial market.
Ostojić expressed his vision of revitalizing the Belgrade Stock Exchange and positioning it as a key player in the domestic economic development through new investments and international partnerships. He emphasized that the focus will be on enhancing the exchange’s capabilities, transitioning to a new trading platform in collaboration with the Athens Stock Exchange, developing new financial instruments, and strengthening ties with international partners, including the World Bank and EBRD.
Special attention will be given to ongoing cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, the Securities Commission, and the Central Registry of Depositories and Clearing Securities. The goal is to improve capital market infrastructure, enhance investor access to information and contribute to economic growth and public prosperity.
Ivan Leposavić, the previous Executive Director of the Belgrade Stock Exchange, recently resigned from his role after serving less than a year.
