The existence of the international terminal for river traffic on Danube is an important comparative advantage for further economic development of Beocin, considering great possibilities to improve and use river traffic, not only for domestic fleet, but also for increase of business activities and better competitiveness. In addition to a possibility of goods and raw materials transportation by river, this is also a significant contribution to further environmental protection and improvement, by decreasing the road traffic.
Works at the terminal arrangement and fulfilling conditions to obtain the international traffic license had been commenced in 2003. The canal was cleaned, sufficient depth was provided, works at the erection of the vertical quay were completed, anchorage and terminal were marked, crane rail and crane were erected, as well as protective railing.
