Central Serbia consists of area of two districts: Šumadija, to which appertain town Kragujevac and municipalities Arandjelovac, Topola, Knić, Rača, Batočina and Lapovo and Pomoravlje, that consists of municipalities Jagodina, Paraćin, Ćuprija, Despotovac, Svilajnac and Rekovac.
 
City of Kragujevac, is today important business and university center with eleven faculties and two institutes. Also is one of most important health and cultural centers in Serbia.
 
In economy of region Šumadija and Pomoravlje, approx. 3560 enterprises of all ownership’s structures and over 17000 stores does business. From the viewpoint of activities, most of these enterprises work in field of trade and industry. In structure of National Income, dominant places take industry, agriculture and trade.

Installed capacities for production of cars, cables, trucks, sports- and hunting guns, gall chains, electro equipment, tools, machines, non-metals, refractory, construction material, wear, knitted goods, shoes, furniture, food products, mineral water, alcohol drinks, as well as capacities in field of primary agricultural production, besides satisfying needs of domestic market also enable production for export. Economy of this region has long tradition of cooperation with the world. Amount of total economy trade reaches approx. 350 million $ in year.

The biggest share in value of economy trade with world has metal industry, electro industry, non-metal industry and food industry. Transition made that today most important groups of exported products are tools, machines and products of metal industry (15.0%), cables and additional equipment (13.6%), agricultural and food products (10.0%), plastic pipes and plastic products (9.3%), package and commercial glass (5.7%), motor vehicles, parts and tools (4.8%), textile products (4.0%) and other. Most significant groups of products that are being imported are machines, appliances and parts (23.2%), metal reproduction material (12.0%), plastic masses and products from plastic masses (10.5%), motor vehicles, parts and tools (8.3%), chemical products and plant protection products (6.5%) and other.
