Chinese companies lead the way in ore exploration and exploitation in Serbia, generating billions in profit

Several registered companies in Serbia are involved in preparatory work for mining, including building infrastructure, removing surface layers, and setting up mining equipment, according to the Biznis portal.

In total, 95 companies are engaged in service activities related to the exploration and exploitation of ores, based on data from the rating agency CompanyWall.

The three most successful companies in this sector generated a combined profit of nearly ten billion dinars in 2023. However, when factoring in the companies operating at a loss, the overall profit for the entire industry reached 9.2 billion dinars.

Leading the sector in profitability are three Chinese companies that have been operating in Serbia for several years in the exploration and exploitation of ores.

The top performer is JCHX Kinsey Mining Construction doo, which has been operating in Serbia since 2019. With over 1,000 employees, this company specializes in the construction of underground mining facilities. It offers professional management services, covering non-ferrous and ferrous mining, chemical mines, mine operation management, design, and technology research and development. JCHX operates more than 30 branches and subsidiaries worldwide. Since its arrival in Serbia, the company has consistently posted strong results. In 2021, it earned 2.3 billion dinars in profit, followed by 2.1 billion dinars in 2022, and the best result of 4.5 billion dinars in 2023.

The second most profitable company in this sector is also Chinese-owned, operating under the name CC-3 Mining Construction doo. This company focuses on the construction of mining shafts and is actively working in the Bor mining basin.

In third place is Jiuzhou International Construction doo, another Chinese company operating in the Bor region. In 2023, Jiuzhou earned 2.6 billion dinars. Despite starting with a loss of 1.09 million dinars in its first year, it quickly turned around its operations and achieved profitability in the subsequent year.

These companies play a crucial role in service activities tied to the exploration and exploitation of ores, which include specialized tasks essential for sustainable mineral resource extraction. These activities are fundamental to the mining industry, as they facilitate the identification of deposits, assess the economic viability of exploitation, and ensure the implementation of necessary technical and environmental procedures required for mining.
