Coal encourages investment

Coal deposits in Serbia of 20 billion tons will be sufficient to end life, as a condition for building new power plants. However, the EPS remind us that new generating facilities must follow the expansion of existing and new mines.

Security of the Serbian energy system is based on coal, because 70 percent of current country receives its combustion.

The construction of power plants includes the opening of a new coal mine. “We are already preparing Radljevo mine that will follow the new units in Obrenovac and Kolubara. EPS calculated that after three years of delays tenders finally get a strategic partner for the job.

Offers from strategic partners are expected in may.

For a country, now is the most important expansion of Fields D in Kolubara. If we dont start moving of Vreoci settlement by june, Serbia might face shortages in coal and finally in electricity.

We expect that relevant institutions provide the conditions for this works in May, otherwise the problem will not only have Kolubara, but the EPS, and I would say the Republic of Serbia, and then we are facing a large import of coal in the next few years, “ said Mr. Nebojsa Ceran, the general director of Kolubara Mines .
