Trade company Delta Maxi Group is going to invest 92.4 million euros next year in expansion of operations and opening of 75 new supermarkets in Serbia and the region, Delta Maxi Group CEO Dejan Jeremic said today in Belgrade.
At the press conference occasioned by the celebration of the tenth anniversary of Maxi markets, he said that the group planned to invest 41.4 million euros in 22 new markets in Serbia, which would increase the number of Delta Maxi markets in the domestic market to 366.
– Delta Maxi markets registered a turnover of 72.6 billion dinars (about 670 million euros) in Serbia in the first 11 months of this year, 6% more than in the same period in 2009 – said Jeremic.
A total of 114 million consumers in Serbia were served, he pointed out, which is 1% more than in the period January-November 2009.
Jeremic assessed that the market share of Delta Maxi markets in Serbia amounted to less than 30%.
He reminded that the first Maxi discount store had been opened on December 12, 2000, in New Belgrade.
As he added, a total number of Delta Maxi consumers, including the ones in the markets of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Montenegro, and Albania, is about 158m.
– Delta Maxi Group expects a turnover of 1.56 billion euros this year – Jeremic said, pointing out that the company has been registering a constant growth of turnover since 2003.
According to his words, Delta Maxi opened 34 new facilities this year and employed 1,468 people in them, while the creation of over 2,000 new jobs is planned in 2011.
Delta Maxi’s investments in the region in 2011 will amount to 51 million euros, 20m of which will be invested in 17 facilities in Bulgaria, 8m in Montenegro, 13m in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and 10m in Albania.
Delta Maxi market chain employs 13,000 workers and it currently comprises 449 markets, 322 of which in Serbia, 31 in Bosnia and Herzegovina, 18 in Montenegro, 16 in Albania, and 40 in Bulgaria.
