Digital banking surges in Serbia: Mobile transactions lead the way

At the close of the first quarter of 2024, Serbia witnessed a notable surge in the adoption of electronic banking services, with a total of 4,162,300 users (comprising individuals, legal entities, and entrepreneurs). This marks a significant increase of 9.97% compared to the same period last year, as reported by the National Bank of Serbia.

In tandem with this growth, the utilization of mobile banking services also saw a remarkable uptick, with 4,180,152 users recorded by the end of the first quarter of 2024. This represents a substantial increase of 19.62% compared to the corresponding period in 2023.

Moreover, alongside the rise in digital banking users, there was a noticeable escalation in the total number of transactions executed. Specifically, the number of payments facilitated through mobile banking surged by 24.23% in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the same period in the preceding year.
