Dutch companies interested in cooperation with Serbia in shipbuilding sector

Serbian Deputy Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic announced yesterday (July 1, 2010) the Government’s new programme of support to domestic shipbuilding industry, which envisages co-funding of production in export-oriented shipbuilding companies in Serbia.

Dinkic, who is on a two-day working visit to the Netherlands, held a series of meetings with the largest Dutch investors and invited them to invest in Serbia.

At the meetings in the two largest Dutch chambers of commerce, in the Hague and Rotterdam, Dinkic presented the advantages of investing in our country.

According to him, Dutch companies have expressed particular interest in cooperation with Serbia in the fields of shipbuilding, the manufacture of buses and trucks, as well as energy and agriculture.

– The largest companies in the field of shipbuilding are interested in building ships for the Dutch and the world market in Serbian shipyards – said Dinkic and added that the Serbian Government would adopt a special programme to encourage the export-oriented sector of the Serbian economy.

Dinkic pointed out that shipbuilding made most of Serbia’s exports to the Netherlands, about €50 million per year.
