Economic Prosperity in Serbia: Growing Incomes and Investments Signal Positive Trends

Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs of the United States, James O’Brien, stated today that Serbia is doing well economically, and foreign investments in this country are increasing, as well as incomes.

“Growth in Serbia is progressing, with more and more high-quality investments going into Serbia. Serbia is doing quite well in terms of investments and economic standards,” said O’Brien during a discussion at the German Marshall Fund of the United States on Washington’s priorities regarding Europe.

He emphasized, however, that further reforms in Serbia and the Western Balkans should still be encouraged.

However, the discussion mostly focused on continuing assistance to Ukraine, and James O’Brien emphasized that partners of Kyiv will not relent in their determination to help the country.

O’Brien also emphasized the importance of trade in the Black Sea and announced that Washington would actively support its partners in that area.
