Saša Đorđević, the president of the Independent Trade Union at Kragujevac Fiat, confirmed that the factory is ready for the serial production of the Grande Panda electric model. Although the exact start date is still unclear, production is expected to begin soon.
According to Đorđević, while there have been delays, the employer has valid reasons for the postponement. He expressed confidence that after over two years since the project was announced, some extra time will be needed to complete the project thoroughly. The goal is to ensure that production can begin smoothly, allowing workers to operate the factory and support their families.
The factory has already hired and trained new workers and received updated equipment, all of which are now operational. He emphasized that the factory is fully prepared, with workers in place and ready to begin production.
There is strong interest in the Grande Panda, particularly in Western Europe, with countries like Italy and France expressing demand. Additionally, the model will feature both electric and hybrid versions, catering to the growing popularity of hybrid vehicles across Europe. This decision was made due to a decline in electric car demand in certain countries, such as Germany.
The new Fiat Grande Panda will be produced in two versions: electric and hybrid. Initially, the cars will be sold in Europe, followed by the Middle East and Africa. The electric Grande Panda is expected to be priced at approximately 25,000 euros, with a state subsidy of 5,000 euros available for buyers in Serbia.
