From Belgrade to Novi Sad in half an hour, a fast train on the rails in nine days

With the establishment of passenger traffic on high-speed railways in Serbia in mid-March, on the route from Belgrade to Novi Sad, and in three years to Subotica and Budapest, our country will find itself side by side with France, Belgium, Germany and other European countries railways.

For the fast railway, Serbia bought three Stadler trains “Kis 200”, whose value is more than 50 million euros. Two trains will be used in regular traffic, and the third will arrive in the country by March 15.

“We could not have imagined that we would drive something like this. This is perfection, the dream of every train driver,” says train driver Zoran Đurđević.

“Kis 200” are the most modern trains in which people travel on the most modern railways: equipped with 314 leather seats, five toilets and a buffet. The train is also adapted for people with disabilities.

The advantage of fast trains is comfort, speed and the fact that they do not pollute the environment.

Zoran Puzović from the company “Serbia Train” says that the purchase of new trains, investment in infrastructure improves the economy of Serbia.

“The possibilities of the population to work in one city and live in another are opening up. Practically, now Belgrade and Novi Sad will be connected cities,” Puzovic points out.

If needed – software takes over train management

Safety on Serbian railways is guaranteed by the European train management system.

“Management has been brought to the highest level, as well as train safety. With these systems, there is no possibility of traffic accidents,” the driver explains.

Puzovic says the system is “extremely autonomous”.

“In case the driver receives a command to reduce speed or stop the train, the system takes control of the driver’s reaction. If the driver’s reaction is not adequate, he warns him first, and the train software itself takes control and control of the train if the train would stop safely, “Puzovic explains.

There will be 18 new electric locomotives on the Serbian railways, worth 112 million euros. These will be regional trains that will run on the entire territory of Serbia on electrified railways, with a maximum speed of 160 kilometers per hour.

It is with this train that the traffic on the high-speed railways of Serbia, on the route from Belgrade to Novi Sad, will start on March 15.

The traffic will be organized by “Intercity” train, whose trip will last 36 minutes, then “Regioexpress” by train, whose trip will last about 40 minutes and “Regio train”, whose trip will last about 50 minutes.

Online ticket purchases start in ten days. The first month at a promotional price, RTS writes.
