Furnace for heat resistant materials re-launched in Magnohrom

Deputy Prime Minister Verica Kalanovic and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Nebojsa Ciric  visited Kraljevo-based Magnohrom where after a four-year break, a furnace for the production of heat resistant materials was once again put into use.

Kalanovic stressed that the re-launch of the furnace is of immense importance for Magnohrom workers who demonstrated their eagerness to fight for their jobs and live off their work.

This is also a confirmation that the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development was right in its decision to invest in Magnohrom’s revitalisation and re-opening of magnesium mines.

The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that Magnohrom now has a great chance sell its products both at the domestic and European markets.

Ciric announced rehabilitation of the facility in Magnohrom by the end of the year and noted that the Ministry of Economy will help in the procurement of two shaft furnaces, which will enable an entirely new manufacturing process at the factory.

The factory Magnohrom already employs approximately 200 employees, while as many are employed in the mines of magnesite. The management of the factory plans to export worth about €7 million, which is four times more from the total income of the factory last year.
