Almost every third company operating in Serbia has no employees, and according to data from last year’s financial reports, there were 32,139 of them.
During 2022, the number of such companies decreased by 393.
“The analysis from the aspect of the number of employees shows that, after companies without employees, there were the most those that employed two to five workers – 27,850 companies and a total of 84,792 workers were employed in them.” They are followed by companies with one employee, of which there were 24,226″, stated the Agency for Business Registers in the publication on business operations.
Companies without employees make up the largest group of companies in Serbia. Companies with two to five employees follow.
When it comes to companies without employees, they spent EUR 55 million on salaries of employees, that is, directors, and that amount is 68 percent higher than a year ago.
Most often, the founder and director is a citizen of Serbia, and is employed full-time in another company. Another option is that the founder and director is a foreigner, who is employed in a country with which Serbia has signed a contract on social insurance.
The analysis of the Agency for Economic Registers shows that the largest number of companies without workers are in wholesale and retail trade – 9,244. The second sector in terms of representation is the processing industry – 4,479. This is followed by professional, scientific, innovative and technical activities with 4,120 such companies. There are also in construction – 3,505.
“Within businesses without employees, micro-companies dominate, which accounted for 31,804 or 99 percent,” according to the APR analysis. There are 303 small, 25 medium and seven large companies remaining.
