Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration and Minister of Science and Technological Development Bozidar Djelic said on Friday in Nis that knowledge, science and technology are top priorities and that this year Serbia will finance the work of 1714 young researchers.
Opening the Third Festival of Science “Science is not a Bogey” at the Faculty of Electronics in Nis, Djelic said that in the new cycle of scientific and technical projects the state will set aside funds for 30% more researchers and Nis will participate with more than 1,000 researchers and will be one of the largest centres.
He noted that €3 million has been set aside from the EU budge for purchase of equipment for Nis, and by end of March necessary documents will be signed for the beginning of construction of a scientific technological park, an investment worth almost €10 million.
Today in Nis Djelic participated in the work of the roundtable “Nikola Tesla -the eternal inspiration”, which dealt with innovation, innovative production and the problems that companies face when implementing new products.
He also attended the opening of the international scientific conference dedicated to the Edict of Milan at the St. Sava Home of the Diocese of Nis, organised by the Committee of the Holy Assembly of Bishops, the Association of NGOs of South East Europe “Civis”, Austrian Foundation “Pro Oriente” and the Swiss Foundation for Peace and Crisis Management.
The two-day festival “Science is not a Bogey” is being organised for the third time by Nis grammar school “Svetozar Markovic”.
The festival is being attended by over 400 young researchers who will present their experiments.
There are numerous guests from Italy, Macedonia and Montenegro and the interesting side of science has been presented through various experiments.
The sponsors of the festival are the Ministry of Science and Technological Development, the Ministry of Education and the Centre for Scientific Cooperation of the Serbian Academy of Science and Art at the University of Nis.
