Leasing sector in Serbia sees 25% growth in new contracts for first half of 2024

The Association of Leasing Companies of Serbia (ALCS) announced today that the value of newly concluded financial leasing contracts reached 481.91 million euros in the first half of 2024, marking a 25% increase, or 96.6 million euros, compared to the same period in 2023.

Ivan Jauković, President of the ALCS Board of Directors, described the results as excellent but anticipates further growth with the introduction of the Fiat “Grande Panda” model. Jauković believes this new model, offering affordable electric and hybrid vehicle options, will enhance the leasing offer for a broader range of clients.

The growth was evident across nearly all segments of financial leasing. In the passenger vehicle segment, which includes both new and used cars, the value of contracts amounted to 226.3 million euros, reflecting a 30.2% increase or 52.5 million euros more than in the first half of 2023.

For commercial, cargo, and other vehicles, the value of newly signed contracts reached 171.2 million euros, up by 43.5 million euros or 34% from the same period last year.

In the machinery and equipment segment, financial leasing contracts were valued at 75.6 million euros in the first half of 2024.

Teodora Milenković, General Secretary of ALCS, noted that passenger vehicles represent 47% of the total financing, followed by commercial and cargo vehicles at 35%, machinery and equipment at 16%, and real estate at 2%. She highlighted that the rise in financing for freight vehicles is driven by significant investments in infrastructure projects, a trend expected to continue.

The number of contracts signed from January 1 to June 30, 2024, was 27.7% higher than in the same period of the previous year.

ALCS representatives are optimistic that innovations in leasing products will sustain this positive growth trend in the future.
