Minister announces upcoming tenders for reconstruction of Serbian ports

Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesić has announced that a tender will soon be issued for the reconstruction of the Port of Prahovo, followed by a similar tender for the Port of Sremska Mitrovica. He also mentioned that a tender for the reconstruction of the Port of Bogojevo is expected in the near future.

Currently, efforts are underway to recover submerged German ships from World War II in the Port of Prahovo, with a total of 21 ships to be removed. Vesić emphasized the importance of upgrading Serbian ports, as Serbia ranks second in the Danube region for cargo throughput, handling approximately 16 million tons.

He stated that enhancing the capacity of these ports could position Serbia above Romania, making it the leading country in the region. This transformation requires modernizing the ports, improving their connections with rail transport, and developing them into modern terminals suitable for cargo handling.
