Serbia’s Ministry of Agriculture partners with Mihajlo Pupin Institute to enhance agricultural IT systems

The Ministry of Agriculture, led by Minister Aleksandar Martinović, has signed a Business-Technical Cooperation Agreement with the Mihajlo Pupin Institute to enhance information and acquisition systems within the ministry and its affiliated enterprises. This partnership aims to integrate modern IT solutions into agricultural production processes, supporting the ministry’s efforts to improve efficiency and innovation in the sector.

Key points from the agreement:

  1. Support for agricultural subsidies:
    • The agreement focuses on helping farmers benefit from a new national subsidy for certified seeds, worth up to 17,000 dinars per hectare.
    • The Mihajlo Pupin Institute will provide IT infrastructure to process requests and verify fiscal receipts for seed purchases quickly and efficiently.
  2. Enhanced IT solutions:
    • The agreement includes the development of modern IT applications to streamline administrative processes and ensure faster payments to farmers.
    • The Institute is recognized for its ability to create tailored software solutions that support the ministry’s goals.
  3. Strategic national projects:
    • The Mihajlo Pupin Institute has been involved in key national projects, including smart agriculture, water management and circular agriculture, aligning its work with Serbia’s development strategy and EU integration goals.
  4. Continued collaboration:
    • This partnership represents the continuation of successful cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and the Institute, which has a long history of leadership in developing information systems for both public and industrial sectors.
  5. Future plans:
    • The cooperation will focus on improving and implementing new information systems, with a particular emphasis on energy efficiency and reducing pollution.
