Mitsubishi electric vehicle in Serbia

The Japanese automobile manufacturer Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) announced that sale of the European-spec i-MiEV new-generation electric vehicle was to commence in 15 European countries.

MMC began production of the i-MiEVs for Europe in October 2010 and it has already shipped 2,500 electric cars to Germany, France and Spain.

In addition to the initial 15 countries, there have been requests from the other Europeans, such as Finland, Serbia, Turkey, and Slovenia.

The automobile i-MiEV (intelligent Mitsubishi innovative Electric Vehicle) was first exhibited as an experimental model at 2005 Tokyo Motor Show. It uses a series of lithium-ion batteries to power electric motors located in the wheels. The batteries can be charged from a standard 15 A/200 V car charger in seven hours and with a three-phase electric power charged in 25 minutes (for up to 80 percent of full capacity).

I-MiEV is a small city car with four seats and four doors. It is 339 cm long and weighs 1,080 kg. Its maximum speed is 130 km/h and it has a range of 160 km with a single battery charge. Maximum power of its electric motors is 47 kW (63.9 HPs).

The nominal price of these vehicles in Germany and other countries ranges between 33,000 and 35,000 euros. In practice, it is somewhat lower and amounts to about EUR 30,000 due to subventions that these states grant for environment protection.
