According to the data from the National Employment Service (NSZ) for October, the latest statistically processed month, the most in-demand workers in Serbia were programmers, with 3,592 advertised job vacancies. This was also the only profession with a four-digit number of job openings.
Next in line were carpenters, with 875 vacancies, followed by bricklayers with 583 openings.
Bus drivers were also in demand, with employers expressing the need to hire 324 bus drivers.
In contrast, the demand for truck drivers was significantly lower, with only 11 vacancies available.
Engineers did not see the same level of demand, except for construction engineers, for whom 135 job openings were advertised in October.
Other in-demand engineering positions included work organization engineers (52 positions), mechanical engineers (39 positions), mining engineers (12 positions), and electronics engineers (10 positions).
Significantly more in-demand than engineers were masons (544 positions), cooks (277 positions), couriers (459 positions), warehouse workers (304 positions) and tile setters (181 positions).
Regarding healthcare workers, the most sought-after were nurses, with 36 job openings, almost as many as doctors and dentists combined. Doctors, with 31 openings, were notably more in demand than dentists.
At the bottom of the list, with only five advertised vacancies each, were foundry workers, locomotive drivers, mathematicians, restructuring and client support specialists and experts in information systems architecture.
