Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic said today that the ministers of member countries of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) formally adopted at the Ministerial Conference held in Bali a decision that NAM’s next meeting is held on 5 and 6 September in Belgrade.
Jeremic, who attended the conference and gave a speech before members of the movement, told the Fonet news agency that the meeting in Belgrade will be an opportunity for Serbia to renew and strengthen relations with more than 100 countries.
This will be an opportunity to speak about the current state of affairs in international relations and economic cooperation, said the Minister.
He pointed out that the meeting in Belgrade will also be attended by representatives of the former Yugoslav republics, adding that the reputation of Yugoslavia remains large despite its breakup 20 years ago.
The Serbian Foreign Minister stressed that it is very important that Serbia has contacts with such a large number of countries, especially as the Kosovo-Metohija problem is being solved through diplomatic channels.
Most of NAM member countries did not recognise the independence of Kosovo-Metohija, said Jeremic, adding that the conference is a good opportunity to repeat the views of Serbia and to ask for continuation of principled support to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia.
During the NAM Ministerial Conference, Jeremic had numerous meetings with foreign ministers of Iraq, Pakistan, Egypt, Indonesia, Malaysia, Azerbaijan, Algeria, South Africa, Bhutan, Singapore, Mauritius, Lesotho and Bangladesh.
