New management board of the Hellenic Business Association of Serbia elected

At the Assembly meeting held on Wednesday, May 26, in the conference hall of Grand Casino Belgrade, representatives of the companies, members of the Hellenic Business Association of Serbia (HBAS), elected new members of the Management Board.

The representatives of the companies with Greek capital voted for the members of the new Management Board of the Hellenic Business Association to be:

  • – Philippos Karamanolis, President of the Executive Board of Eurobank EFG,
  • – Vasilios Ntertillis, General Manager of company Metal Globe,
  • – Vasilios Kakagiotis, General Manager of company Veropoulos,
  • – Nikolas Karakostas, General Manager of company Megastores Electroniki,
  • – Georgios Karadimas, owner and General Manager of company Meeting Point.

The first meeting of the newly appointed Management Board was held after the Assembly meeting, at which Vasilios Ntertillis was elected as the new President of the Management Board of the Association, Mr. Philippos Karamanolis as the Vice President and Mr. Nikolas Karakostas as the General Director of the Association. The Management Board is soon going to present its business plans, as well as priorities and goals for 2010.

The core mission of the Hellenic Business Association is the improvement of business relations between Greek and Serbian companies, as well as the exchange of positive experience in doing business in the region.

The members of the HBAS have been present on the market of Serbia for a very long time and so far they have invested over EUR3bn, which makes Greece one of the leading countries – investors in Serbia.

Recognizing the needs of the local market, Greek companies have so far invested in various sectors – for instance, banking, telecommunications, energy sector, sugar and cement industries, retailing, real estate, hotel management, tourism, media etc.

Greek companies that operate in Serbia will continue to support the Serbian economy and social community, as well as its efforts in the European integration process.

The Hellenic Business Association of Serbia (HBAS) was founded in September 2004 with the aim of improving and supporting the investments of its members.

The main goal of the Association, which has 41 members, is to bring the Greek and Serbian markets closer together, and offer a chance to Greek companies to operate in a secure and well structured investment environment.

The Association is also trying to support the general progress of Serbia and help as much as possible the development of the business climate in Serbia, as well as encourage the expansion of Greek investments in Serbia.
