“MPs will not have holidays until this task has been completed,” Djukic-Dejanovic told reporters at the Nis Faculty of Law, where she delivered a lecture on the open doors of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.

She said that Serbian MPs would vote on the bill of amendments to the MP Election Law on May 25, while the parliament should schedule its sitting regarding the law on political activity funding for June 6 or 7.

“We expect the government to submit two more laws, the law on public property and the law on restitution, and these four laws constitute the condition for the country’s EU candidacy,” Djukic-Dejanovic noted.

Speaking about the term of next parliamentary elections, she noted that it would be good for the elections to be staged in their regular term, that is, in the spring of 2012.

“All political subjects are ready for elections to be staged sooner, if so required by Serbia’s political scene,” Djukic-Dejanovic noted and recalled that Serbia has important national goals such as the EU candidacy and creating better economic and social conditions for its citizens.

“In the months to come, our government should predominantly tackle these goals, while elections should be staged in their own time,” she said.
