The Republic Pension and Disability Insurance Fund (PIO) has warned about new attempts to scam pensioners in Serbia, where fraudsters are offering to double the money in their accounts via social media.
Users from various parts of Serbia have informed the PIO Fund that they received messages from a profile named “PIO Fond,” which uses the Fund’s identification marks (logo and name). The message offers to double the amount of money in their bank accounts, urging recipients to provide their personal details (name, surname, bank account number, and phone number) in response.
The PIO Fund has stated that this is a fake profile created for fraudulent purposes, exploiting the Fund’s name and logo. The Fund has taken all available measures to block the profile, but until then, pensioners are advised to ignore any messages of this nature.
The PIO Fund emphasized that it does not communicate with its users in this manner and does not participate in organizing any prizes or giveaways, as claimed in the fraudulent profile. The public is urged to report such activities to the Serbian Ministry of the Interior (MUP).
