Pirot, following the nationwide initiative “Leap into the Future – Serbia 2027” introduced earlier this year by the government, is embarking on its own transformative journey over the next four years. Mayor Vladan Vasić announced plans for investments totaling €230 million between 2024 and 2028, in collaboration with the Government of Serbia, during a presentation of key objectives for the city’s development.
At the city assembly, Vasić unveiled a comprehensive set of around twenty projects, complemented by proposals for social policy measures. Pirot’s priorities include establishing a higher education institution, securing a strategic partner for Tigar AD, reestablishing military presence, citywide gasification, constructing a modern bus terminal, revitalizing railway infrastructure, and enhancing various urban amenities such as Serbian Rulers Street and the local market.
The city’s ambitious roadmap also encompasses critical initiatives like building an emergency medical center, modernizing educational facilities such as the gymnasium, setting up a centralized traffic management hub, and enhancing leisure infrastructure with an open-air pool and water park. Additionally, ongoing efforts to reconstruct historic landmarks like Kale Fortress and develop tourism infrastructure in Temsko are part of Pirot’s vision for the future.
“The breadth of our goals may seem ambitious, but our unwavering commitment and strategic planning instill confidence in our vision,” remarked Vasić. Categorized into key sectors like infrastructure, healthcare, education and culture, these projects align with Pirot’s long-term development strategy.
Furthermore, Pirot aims to support local families by proposing measures to assist elementary and high school students in accessing essential textbooks, underscoring the city’s commitment to fostering education and ensuring equal opportunities for all residents.
