Director of the EU Integration Office Milica Delevic said yesterday that the preparatory seminar for regional projects from EU funds is very important for potential beneficiaries from the public, scientific and educational institutions as well as from the sectors of civil society and the media.
Speaking on the occasion of the projects within a transnational cooperation programme, Delevic told a press conference that the seminar has gathered more than 150 representatives from 16 countries in the region.
She pointed out that it is very important to exchange experiences, present ideas and find partners for projects in the environmental sector and in the field of demographic change.
She stressed that as for the two upcoming competitions, part of the programme for cooperation with south-east European countries using IPA funds, over €14 million will be at disposal.
Seventeen projects are under way and over the next two months we expect agreements to be closed on other projects that will be elected after the second competition.
Delevic pointed out that this is the first programme to be implemented under regulations that are in force for EU members.
Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Adriano Martins and director of the programme of transnational cooperation in south-eastern Europe Annette Lechocki agreed that economic cooperation secures peace and stability.
The programme area includes Austria, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, FYRMacedonia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine – countries whose entire population amounts to around 200 million and is one of the most diverse and complex transnational areas for cooperation in Europe.
