Prospects for Energy Business in the Balkan Region

6. April 2011. 9:00 – 16:00

Serbia, Hyatt Regency Hotel

Organiser: EMG

Following world and European trends, Serbia has declared 2011 the year of energy efficiency.

The reconstruction of existing power plants and investments in smart grids projects for the distribution of electrical energy is essential. Strategic partners necessary for achieving these goals exist, however further improvement of legislation is required. The role of the state and new regulatory instruments must be defined. Using international projects and business opportunities as a model would aide, accelerate and improve the current situation in Serbia. Also, cooperation at the regional level is necessary in order be competitive with the European Union. Projects of the future are going to be related to alternative energy sources, reducing the administrative processes for their implementation as well as increasing their profitability in order to attract as many investors as possible.
