Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has announced that the construction of the Gornji Katun-Obrež road in Varvarin, valued at 4.5 million euros, will begin in early March. This project is expected to address the biggest infrastructure concern for the citizens of Varvarin, as the 5-kilometer road has been a major issue for local residents. President Vučić stated that construction will begin between March 5 and 10, depending on weather conditions.
In addition to the road project, President Vučić promised several other key initiatives for Varvarin. A school worth 2.4 million euros will be reconstructed, a new secondary water supply network will be built, and efforts will be made to attract an investor to establish a factory in the area, providing jobs for 200 to 250 people.
The secondary water supply network, which will serve both Varvarin and Ćićevac, as well as nearby towns, is expected to be completed by autumn. Citizens of the surrounding towns, who have been facing a lack of access to drinking water, will benefit from the new infrastructure. Currently, water is sourced from Ćeli in the Kruševac municipality, but no secondary network has been developed, leaving many residents without reliable access to water.
