Romania calls on Russia, Serbia and Turkey to propose new model of regional cooperation

Romanian Foreign Minister Teodor Baconschi called on Russia, Serbia and Turkey, as the respective incumbent and two future chairs of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation organization, to propose a new model of regional economic cooperation that would be better adapted to modern trends and the situation in the enlarged Black Sea zone. I call on them to conceive together a flexible and realistic cooperation model, with multiple dimensions and more adapted to the developments in the region, he said winding up a meeting of BSEC in Bucharest today. As of January 1, Serbia is taking over the presidency of that organization from Russia. Serbian Deputy PM and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said at the sitting that Serbia’s presidency over BSEC will be an opportunity for the reactivation of BSEC as a large organization that has been insufficiently employing its significant potentials.
