Sagem to choose location for plant in Nis

Prior to Wednesday, November 10, French Sagem should choose the location in Nis for the construction of a factory – Nis Mayor Milos Simonovic told Beta agency.

He said that the representatives of that French manufacturer of high-technology electronic and communication equipment (www.sagem.com) would be staying in Nis from Monday to Wednesday and that the final agreement on the construction of the factory and the location should be reached on Wednesday, for which a meeting between Sagem’s representatives and the Mayor had been scheduled.

– We have offered them several locations – from Donje Medjurovo work zone to the space of Elektronska Industrija – as well as few more locations in the city, and their choice primarily depends on the type of investment they decide for – said Simonovic.

The Government of Serbia and the City of Nis signed a protocol on cooperation with Sagem on March 27, 2009, which should have enabled the opening of a unit for the production of electric meters of the French company in Nis-based Elektronska Industrija (Electronic Industry).

The protocol has not been implemented yet, mainly because the tender for replacement of electric meters has not been announced in Serbia.

Sagem’s representatives were staying in Nis last month and, according to the announcements from the Mayor’s Cabinet, they are now interested in the construction of a factory of set-top boxes for digital television.
