Amendments to the Law on Foreigners and the Law on Employment of Foreigners should enable easier and more flexible employment of foreigners, as well as enable the digitization of that process, it was said today at the public debate on the drafts of these solutions in the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
The aim of the amendments to the law is to facilitate the entry, stay and work of foreigners in Serbia, said Nenad Paunović from the Office of the Prime Minister of Serbia. The changes are aimed at making Serbia competitive on the international labor market, especially because there is a shortage of labor in many professions, especially when it comes to low-skilled workers, Paunović said.
The process of amendments and additions started in 2019, and the representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Zorica Vulić, indicated that the Law on Foreigners and the Law on the Integration of Foreigners should be harmonized, because they are related.
As she said, in this way the way of employment and residence of foreigners in Serbia will be facilitated, and it was proposed that the deadline for the competent institutions to give an answer would be 15 days from the day of submission of the documentation.
Also, one of the changes will be a shortened period of stay for obtaining permanent residence in the country, and all applications can be submitted electronically.
“A single procedure is being introduced, a single work permit, the entire procedure is digitized,” said Sanja Gavrilović from the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs.
