Serbia and Croatia expanding trade liberalisation

 

Minister of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water Management Dusan Petrovic and Croatian Minister of Agriculture Petar Cobankovic spoke on Saturday in Novi Sad about European integration and expansion of trade liberalisation between the two countries.

Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water Management Milos Milovanovic told the Tanjug news agency that trade liberalisation of agricultural and food products between Serbia and Croatia is envisaged by CEFTA agreement, but there are ambitions for its expansion.

We negotiated certain mutual tariff concessions and we hope they will be put in place as soon as possible, he stated and added that representatives of the two countries also discussed the upcoming harvest, as well as concrete forms of assistance of Croatia to Serbia.

The two countries have a stable trade exchange which is growing constantly, although at modest pace.

The foreign trade volume can be improved significantly if we expand concessions, Milovanovic noted.

He said that the main products Serbia exports to Croatia are sugar beet, various grains (corn, wheat), and processed agricultural and food products, while Serbia mostly imports from Croatia tobacco and confectionery.
