Serbia and Czech Republic boost agricultural ties with focus on fruit and value-added products

Serbia’s Minister of Agriculture, Aleksandar Martinović, highlighted the growing partnership between Serbia and the Czech Republic, particularly in the agricultural sector. He noted that trade in agricultural and food products reached €57.7 million in the first nine months of this year.

In a meeting with Czech Ambassador to Serbia, Jan Bondy, ahead of the upcoming visit of Czech Minister of Agriculture Marek Viborny and a state-business delegation from the Czech Republic, Martinović emphasized the smooth cooperation between the two countries in plant health and veterinary matters. The Czech Republic has expressed interest in importing Serbian apples, as well as ajvar and other value-added products produced in Serbia.

Martinović also mentioned that the two countries’ ministries could expand cooperation in areas such as organic farming and water management. Potential for joint activities also exists in livestock breeding and the meat industry. He added that, as part of the Czech economic delegation, representatives from nearly all sectors of agricultural and food production would participate. To facilitate future collaborations, Serbia’s Ministry of Agriculture plans to arrange visits to Serbian companies, aiming to explore new joint projects and increase the variety and volume of agricultural products exchanged between the two nations.
