Serbia and South Korea launch economic cooperation talks to enhance trade relations

In Seoul, a statement was signed to kick off negotiations for an economic cooperation agreement between Serbia and South Korea. The agreement was signed by Tomislav Momirović, the Minister of Internal and Foreign Trade and Inkj Chang, the South Korean Minister of Trade.

Momirović highlighted that this partnership with the economically powerful South Korea marks a significant step forward. After a year of intensive discussions, they have established a clear focus on the industries they wish to promote and the benefits that both nations can derive from strengthening their economic ties, as reported by the government’s website.

He pointed out that Korean companies have made substantial contributions to the Serbian economy, employing nearly 10,000 people in the country. Furthermore, he noted that trade between Serbia and South Korea has been considerable, reaching 686 million euros last year, with Serbian exports totaling 320 million euros.

The minister expressed optimism that the economic cooperation agreement will open a new chapter and create significant opportunities that should be fully embraced.

“Serbia is recognized as an important partner, and I am confident that in the coming years, we will attract even more investments and elevate our trade exchange to a new level,” concluded Momirović.
