Serbia appreciates Hungary’s support in EU integration of Western Balkans

 

Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic said today in a meeting with Hungarian President Pal Schmitt that the mutual understanding and bilateral cooperation between the two countries are at a high level and stressed the importance that Serbia attaches to relations with neighboring Hungary.

Cvetkovic thanked Schmitt for the support of Hungary, the country currently presiding over the EU, to the process of European integration of Serbia, and added that Serbia highly appreciates the position of Hungary that the EU enlargement with the Western Balkans is strategically important.

The two officials jointly stated that strengthening regional cooperation and good neighborliness policy remains key foreign policy priorities of the two countries.

Promotion of economic cooperation, especially in investment activity remain the task set before governments of the two countries.

It was emphasised that the presence of the Hungarian minority in Serbia and the Serbian minority in Hungary is an important bridge of cooperation in bilateral relations between the two countries.
