Minister of Education Zarko Obradovic stated on Friday that Serbia has assumed the presidency over the Advisory Body of Education Reform Initiative of South Eastern Europe (ERI SEE) from Croatia.
Obradovic explained that this body is dedicated to promoting common European standards in education and support to sustainable reforms in the area.
The Minister reiterated that the strategic goal of our country is joining the EU and pointed out that knowledge and education are among the most important pillars in this process.
By participating in numerous joint projects and work on the compatibility of teaching and research projects, Serbia is harmonising its education with educational development in European educational space, the Minister said.
He said the plans for 2011 include the implementing tasks related to the strengthening of institutional cooperation in vocational education and training in the field of higher education quality assurance, the monitoring of educational statistics, as well as regional exchange of policies and practice in equality of access to education.
Also speaking at the meeting were Croatian Minister of Science, Education and Sport Radovan Fuks and Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia-Herzegovina Sredoje Novic.
Members of this organisation include Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Albania, Moldova and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
