Serbia, EPS workers’ union staged a protest in central Belgrade

The Serbian power company (EPS) workers’ union staged a protest in central Belgrade on Friday. As announced earlier, the peaceful protest was organized in order to ensure that their three demands are met – a salary increase, the dismissal of acting director Miloroslav Tomasevic and the honoring of the collective agreement.

“The main goal of this gathering is a salary increase. We have to fight for that. Another thing that we asked for is the dismissal of acting director Tomasevic. In order to raise production to the level it should be at, we need the Government’s help, also that of the President. We hope they will show understanding. We are also asking for the honoring of the collective agreement,” said Srdjan Alimpijevic, a director with the Serbian coal mining and smelting complex RB Kolubara, Nova.rs reported.

The protesters booed acting director Miroslav Tomasevic. Their message regarding his dismissal was: “Leave, or Serbia will be in the dark.”
