Minister of Defence Dragan Sutanovac announced that during a visit of the Serbian state delegation to France from 6 to 8 April, which will be headed by President Boris Tadic, an agreement on cooperation in defence will be signed between the Serbian and French defence ministries.
Sutanovac told Tanjug news agency that the agreement will enable a continuation of cooperation and education of Serbian officers at the most prestigious military academies in the world, including the St Cyr military school, from which a number of Serbian generals graduated in the past.
The Minister noted that the agreement, to be signed as part of international military cooperation, will help to strengthen the ties between Serbia and France and secure Serbia’s further EU path.
Our plan is to participate in peace missions with France, such as the mission to fight pirates off the coast of Somalia, he observed.
Sutanovac stressed that as part of its activities to further develop military industry and place goods in third markets, Serbia is interested in boosting cooperation with the French military industry.
