Serbia hopeful for positive news, in October, on EU candidacy

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic expressed belief that in October, the European Commission will give a positive opinion on Serbia’s candidacy, and on the date of commencement of negotiations with the EU. At the promotion of the “Challenges of European Integration” magazine, Djelic said that ahead of Serbia is spring of key reforms that will last 10 weeks, during which the Government 96-point Action Plan should be fulfilled. He expressed belief that this will be done by June 15, when the EC will start creating the Opinion that will be published on October 12. During this period, according to Djelic, it is necessary to pass several complex laws, including those on restitution and on the financing of political parties and act on the election of MPs.
