Serbia joins New International Trade Corridor alliance to boost innovation and trade

The Alliance of Chambers of Commerce of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC) was officially established in Beijing, connecting western China with Southeast Asia and Europe. The Chamber of Commerce of Serbia is a co-founder and member of this significant initiative. The alliance currently includes over 20 national chambers of commerce and industry, spanning countries from the Philippines to Indonesia.

Marko Čadež, President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS), participated in the founding ceremony, which took place at the second China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCEC) in Beijing. In his address, Čadež emphasized the importance of not only strengthening business ties along the corridor but also fostering collaboration among startups from the member countries, particularly those involved in innovative technologies for the logistics sector.

Čadež reflected on a recent meeting in China, where representatives of the Alliance member chambers of commerce discussed advancing trade, logistics and transportation. He highlighted a Serbian initiative to connect innovative companies from all participating countries, aiming to create a platform for sharing ideas and promoting technological advancements.

He also proposed that next year’s major meeting be held in Belgrade, bringing together companies and institutional representatives from across the corridor. The goal is to create a vibrant space for collaboration, linking over 400 startup hubs, accelerators, and research centers.

ÄŒadež stressed that the future of the corridor isn’t just about transporting goods, but also leveraging new technologies to enhance logistics and make the entire system more accessible and efficient. “Together, we can profit from innovations that will make logistics more technologically advanced and efficient,” he said.

In addition to the founding ceremony, Čadež visited the CISCEC, which runs from November 26 to 28, with over 300 companies from more than 50 countries participating. The event was organized by the Chinese Chambers of Commerce (CCPIT) and the Chinese government, showcasing the growing international interest in the Land-Sea Trade Corridor.
